“The Scout” (Overall length 7 3/4″, Blade 3″ x 1″ x 5/32′) Crafted from D2 Steel with Electro Etched blade. Scales are Arizona Desert Ironwood with Orange liners) Peened Copper Bolster and pins. $200
Nessmuk Trail – $125 – $175 depending on wood used –
The ‘Nessmuk Trail’ knife was named after its designer George Washington Sears who wrote a camping book and Magazine articles under the alias of ‘Nessmuk’ in the 1880’s.
Taking into account that the average person does not want to have to deal with maintaining a ‘High Carbon’ steel knife, I went with 440C – a high carbon stainless steel for this blade. It holds a good edge and is easy to sharpen. I’ve used ‘Spaulted’ Maple in this for the handle. I’ve made two of them, but my wife claimed one of them right-off-the-bat. The sheath is designed for rugged use so should last for years (with proper care), as are all of the sheaths I make for my knives.
Wind Chaser – $200 – This will definitely be a “one of a kind” because I have found that I do not like making a hollow ground blade. The blade is acid etched 154 CM Stainless Steel. Blade: length 3 1/4″, Width 1″ and thickness 5/32″. Overall length is 8 1/8″. The handle is hand worked, bleached elk shed hand tooled to make it look like bone.
Day Tripper – DT005 – $125 – Blade: Electro-etched 1075 High Carbon Steel Flat Ground; 4 1/4” L, 1” W, 5/64” T, OAL is9”; Handle: Ziricote with Copper pins. Good knife for Day Hiking or Camping.
