Refurbishing Well Loved Knives

Sometimes we have a knife, or knives, that we have sort of “loved to pieces”. This was the case with the set you see pictured here. The lady used them a lot and while the blades themselves are excellent, the handle material left a bit to be desired. over time the black plastic cracked and chipped away. I really wish I had remembered to photograph the set before I started work on them.

The client asked me to put new handles on them all. Her only problem was, she couldn’t decide which wood she liked the best. In the end, she asked me to do each knife in a different wood. She picked her set up this afternoon and sent this photo this evening. I had warned her that keeping them in the leather knife folio she brought them in was not good for them and suggested she get a magnetic bar to store them, rather than the case or in a drawer. It looks like she took my advice to heart!
